The world’s only Museum of Soap and History of Dirt operates in Bydgoszcz. It offers interactive time travel through the history of cleanliness, dirt and soap making, which has deep-rooted ties with Bydgoszcz. Here, you can learn about the history of hygiene, dirt and soap production and find, what our grandmothers' hygiene looked like and where the most bacteria are to find. In addition, the Master Soapmaker will show you how you can make your own soap with the fragrance, colour and form of your choice. The entire demonstration lasts approximately 50 minutes.
In the city on the River Brda, the first Soap and Candle Production Plant was founded as early as the 18th century in today’s Warmińskiego Street. Production of the famous Persil and Cypisek laundry soap originated in Bydgoszcz. A visit to the Museum starts from washing your hands in a tub. Then visitors move to the workshop, where soap makers teach them step by step how to make fragrant soap. After the workshops, participants visit all parts of this surprising museum.

Entrance with a Polish-speaking guide at a specified times only (10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 13:00, 14:00, 15:00, 16:00 and 17:00). Other times may be arranged for groups.
Please note: Full guided tours in English only take place at 2:00 p.m. on certain days of the week. At other times, self-guided tours (with audio guide but without the soap workshops) are possible.
Before planning your visit, it is advisable to look at www.muzeummydla.pl and check bookings for your chosen date. The museum is small, so with limited seating, we recommend buying tickets in advance.

regular ticket — 32 PLN | reduced ticket* — 27 PLN
group ticket (children or adults from 10 to 35 persons) — 26 PLN/person
a ticket for the custodian — 1 PLN (for every 10 group tickets)

* Reduced tickets are available for
1. children, schoolchildren and students up to the age of 26,
2. disabled persons with a valid disability certificate,
3. senior citizens aged 65 and over
4. people covered by a large family card.
