GollobTomasz Gollob was born on 11 April 1971 in Bydgoszcz. The best Poland’s speedway rider began his career in his home town and more precisely at Polonia Speedway Club. As a member of Bydgoszcz team he won the Championship of Poland five times and thus naturally promoted speedway in the region.

In 1993 Tomasz Gollob started competing in Individual Speedway World Championship. And only two years later he celebrated his first victory. Since then, he consistently starts in Grand Prix. His long and still lasting career abounds in 6 medals achieved in world championships: two silver ones in 1999 and 2009 and four bronze ones in 1997, 1998, 2001 and 2008. Together with the Polish team he won 8 medals including 4 gold ones in Team Speedway World Championships.

Tomasz Gollob not only enjoys achievements in international competitions but he also rides successfully in national ones: he won the title of Individual Polish Speedway Champion eight times and gained a bronze medal three times. In 1999 Bydgoszcz speedway rider was granted the Best Polish Sportsman award as he received the greatest amount of readers’ votes in a yearly voting announced by a prestigious sports magazine ‘Przegląd Sportowy’.

There is no place like Bydgoszcz

Although Tomasz Gollob does not ride in Polonia colours he frankly admits that this is the very stadium at Sportowa Street that is his favourite one. And even though he changed colours he lives with his family in Bydgoszcz all the time.
