World champion Poland’s wonder-team relay runners: Irena Szewińska-Kirszensztain, Halina Richter- Górecka-Herrmann, Ewa Kłobukowska and Teresa Ciepły not only won gold medals at Olympic Games in Tokyo but also established world record in 4 x 100 meters hurdles. Bydgoszcz Honorary Citizen Bydgoszcz citizens appreciated Teresa Ciepły’s contribution to Poland’s sport development and unquestionable promotion of Bydgoszcz Sports Club ‘Zawisza’. In recognition of her achievements City Council awarded her a title of Honorary Citizen in 1997. And then, on the 17th of October 2007 a Complex of Schools nr 15 in Bydgoszcz was, post mortem, named after Teresa Ciepły. She died on the 8th of March 2006 in our city. |
