Sebastian Chmara, nicknamed „Sebol”, one of the most awarded Polish decathletes was born on the 22nd of November 1971 in Bydgoszcz. In colours of Bydgoszcz Zawisza Club, he was trained by Wiesław Czapiewski between 1988 and 1999. His personal life and professional career are settled in his home town.
Sport and once again sport First he had a try at canoeing but after a short time he started training athletics. Devoted to practising sport he also studied and graduated from the Sport Faculty at The Teachers College today Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz. He won the title of Poland’s Champion being only 20 years old. Champion of Poland Sebastian Chmara was the Champion of Poland twice : in 1991 and in 1994. He also established Poland’s record in decathlon three times. On the 17th of May 1998, he achieved 8249, 8290, and 8566 points in Alhama de Murcia in Spain what is his personal best. World Champion Sebastian Chmara won the title of indoor World Champion in heptathlon in Maebashi, Japan in 1998. He held a Europe Championship in 1998 in Valencia. He took part successfully in numerous meetings and set many records of Poland in decathlon and heptathlon. Sports manager The former athlete, Sebastian Chmara, was chosen the president of CWZS Zawisza Club. He managed the club and organized sports meetings successfully. Appreciated for his achievements he was chosen the Vice-president of Polish Association of Athletics. Sebastian Chmara is a sports commentator for TV and radio transmissions as well as co-organizer of one of the most prestigious indor athletic meetings in the world- Elite Pedros Cup held in Bydgoszcz Sports Hall ‘Łuczniczka’ |
