Hinode Tapes (PL) | CONCERT | FONOMO

Date: October 16, 2026
Time: 10:00 p.m.
Venue: Mózg Club, Bydgoszcz

Hinode Tapes is a Tri-City trio consisting of Piotr Chęcki, Piotr Kaliński, and Jacek Prościński, blending influences from Japanese ambient, free jazz, post-rock, shoegaze, and experimental music. The band’s debut album premiered on the American radio station KEXP and was well received both in Poland and abroad.

The band’s name refers to its approach: “hinode” means “sunrise” in Japanese and symbolizes a new artistic beginning, while “tapes” reflects the musicians’ passion for recording long, improvised pieces. The trio’s music unfolds as a process—through a dialogue between instruments, gradual shifts in texture, and a balancing act between structure and improvisation, silence and dense sound.

Their next album, “Ita,” recorded with Japanese double bassist Hiroki Chiba, expanded the band’s musical language to include new contexts for improvisation. Members of Hinode Tapes are also associated with projects such as the Wojtek Mazolewski Quintet, Nanook of the North, the Kamil Piotrowicz Sextet, Nene Heroine, and Hatti Vatti.
