The burning need for fulfillment and the pain of unfulfillment. Missed opportunities, unrealized possibilities, and desires that have not been satisfied—all of which return to us in memories, dreams, fantasies, and stories. All of this is explored in “Wuthering Heights. Love To Die,” a production by the Polish Theater in Bydgoszcz and an experimental project directed by Klaudia Hartung-Wójciak, one of the most powerful voices in contemporary theater.

Six actors and actresses come together to perform a daring variation on the themes of love, unfulfillment, and death. They talk about their own experiences, about 19th-century England as depicted in Emily Brontë’s novel, and about Irena Wójciak from Brodnica, a fan of *Wuthering Heights* and, in private, the director’s grandmother. These three worlds, though seemingly unconnected, are built on a shared longing and a shared fantasy: what if our lives had unfolded just a little differently, and we had turned away from the needs of the moment?

Running time: 100 minutes without intermission | Performance with English subtitles

This performance is intended for audiences 16 years of age and older. The performance uses stage captions, which are an integral part of the narrative and require active reading by the audience. We encourage people with visual impairments to bring their glasses.
