The Old Film Festival invites you to a screening of the film "I Lived Seventeen Times," directed by Tadeusz Bystram and Stanisław Zawiśliński. The film is a brilliant account of the behind-the-scenes story of the colorful life and rich body of work of Jerzy Kawalerowicz—an artist who was completely consumed by the art of film.

The documentary features interviews with, among others, the famous composer Ennio Morricone, Andrzej Wajda, Kazimierz Kutz, Tadeusz Konwicki, Janusz Majewski, Juliusz Machulski, Jerzy Zelnik, Franciszek Pieczka, and Małgorzata and Magdalena Dipont. Their memories are juxtaposed with archival statements by Kawalerowicz himself, interspersed with excerpts from his most famous films, and ultimately create an exceptionally evocative and multifaceted portrait of this outstanding director and his era.

Following the film, there will be a discussion with the film’s director—Stanisław Zawiśliński—a Polish journalist, writer, director, and screenwriter who specializes in the history of Polish cinema. Zawiśliński is the author of books and biographical exhibitions dedicated to outstanding artists, including Krzysztof Kieślowski and Jerzy Hoffman. He has also dedicated documentary films to figures in Polish cinema, such as “Rysopis znaleziony po latach. Wojciech Jerzy Has” and “Zanussi – rozmowy istotne.”
