ProForma – Chamber Ensemble of Northeastern and Southern Music

Marcin Wawruk – conductor

We invite you to join us on a sentimental journey in which folk motifs, poetic works, and songs—drawn from the treasure trove of the collective memory of the Polish people— will be reimagined by the vocal ensemble “ProForma” through their own original arrangements. The program “Between Heaven and Earth” is rooted in the Polish musical tradition dear to our hearts—both the ancient and the not-so-distant past—which remains an enduring source of inspiration for creative endeavors. ProForma presents Polish popular and traditional music in modern arrangements by Marcin Wawruk. These arrangements often feature unusual sounds, percussion effects, and other vocal techniques that expand the possibilities of musical expression, blending tradition and modernity in a harmonious and inspiring dialogue. We’ll revisit the great hits of poetic song (by Czesław Niemen, Marek Grechuta, Grzegorz Turnau, the band “Skaldowie,” and others), as well as songs from the Polish tradition, the song repertoire of Stanisław Moniuszko, and pre-war hits from Polish film music, reimagined in a contemporary, polyphonic style.
