Traditional Ukrainian embroidery, known to Ukrainians as “wyshyvanka,” is a true national treasure that symbolizes beauty, strength, good fortune, and family heritage. It is not only an item of clothing but also a symbol of spirituality and national pride passed down from generation to generation.

During the workshop, we’ll embroider a bracelet, a pendant, and a handbag charm. Each of these items will become a small, personal protective amulet.

In the embroidered designs, we’ll draw on the symbolism of masculine and feminine energy, their mutual complementarity and strength, as well as the special bond between parents and children. We’ll also explore the symbolism of fertile soil and sown fields—symbols of fertility, life, abundance, and the continuity of generations.

The workshop will be led by Nataliia Nekrasa—an artist who has been embroidering since childhood. Her mother and grandmother instilled in her a love for this art. She honed her skills at the School of Artistic Crafts in Reshetylivka (Poltava Oblast) and later graduated from the Pedagogical Institute in Uman. Folk embroidery has become an important part of her life—she creates, explores its secrets, and shares her knowledge by teaching others. In 2009, she became a member of the Union of Folk Art Masters of Ukraine.

We provide materials (participants take their finished work home), coffee, tea, and a sweet treat.

Duration: approx. 2 hours; adults and children accompanied by guardians are welcome.
