During the event, our guest—Anna Karczewska, PIW’s promotions manager—will discuss the book’s creation process. We will also hear archival recordings of the stories read by Miron Białoszewski.

Among the papers of poet Jadwiga Stańczakowa, a friend of Białoszewski’s, there is a surviving draft of an anthology of horror stories that the poet compiled and recorded on cassette tapes in the 1970s the poet compiled and recorded on cassette tapes for the library of the Association for the Blind. The volume features stories by English-language authors, including Edgar Allan Poe, Hector Munro, Richard Connell, Malcolm Jameson, Dorothy Leigh Sagers, and Graham Greene, as well as Stanisław Lem’s story “Terminus” (this is thus the first instance of a story appearing in two volumes of *Tales of the Uncanny*). Incidentally, a short text—a parody of a horror story—co-written by Miron Białoszewski and Jadwiga Stańczakowa, titled *The Elongated Arm*, was also discovered; it had not been published anywhere until now. A real treat for Miron’s fans is undoubtedly the opportunity to listen to the stories included in the volume, read by the author himself. The book contains a QR code that links to unique audio recordings. The foreword was written by Justyna Sobolewska, and the afterword by Piotr Paziński.
