The STO5 Gallery was established in the art studio of the Special Educational and Care Center in Skierniewice. Amazing artists are born here, works both small and large are created, and time spent at a school desk is transformed into magical moments. Darek Zdrojewski—as a supervisor, friend, and mentor—fosters an intimate atmosphere. The freedom—filled with acceptance—that the artists enjoy in the studio facilitates self-expression and fosters the development of creative ingenuity.

To quote Darek: “The role of the teacher is to enable students to develop their own individual forms of artistic expression. The instructor allows for free experimentation with various painting and drawing techniques, accepts independence in the choice of subject matter, and does not restrict students’ activities with instructions or his own sense of aesthetics. A very important role of the studio instructor is to promote the students’ artistic work. Participation in art competitions and events plays a significant role in the process of their socialization.”

It is impossible to count all the exhibitions and awards that have recognized the studio’s students over the past quarter-century. In our gallery alone, the artists are presenting their works for the fourth time. Nor can we imagine the Teofil Ociepka National Painting Competition without their participation. Since 2008, when they first exhibited their works there, they have been collecting awards and honors. They have participated in every subsequent edition, and we are already eagerly awaiting what we will see in next year’s 16th edition (which will mark another milestone for them, as it will be their 10th time participating in the competition).

At the Hoffman Salon, we’ll see works by over a dozen artists currently creating at the Studio. We cordially invite you to attend.

The exhibition runs through January 8, 2027.
