How does the human body work? How is modern medicine evolving, and what opportunities does it offer patients? How can we distinguish reliable knowledge from popular health myths? Medical Wednesday is a series of free popular science lectures organized by the Collegium Medicum of Nicolaus Copernicus University in Bydgoszcz. For over 20 years, the initiative has been introducing participants to the most important issues in modern medicine, preventive care, and the functioning of the human body. The sessions are led by experts and scientists who share their knowledge in an accessible way, helping participants better understand health and make informed decisions.

The lectures cover a wide range of topics—from modern treatment methods and transplantology, through oncology and dentistry, to vaccinations, neurobiology, and preventive health care. The sessions take place on select Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m. at the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Cultural Center in Bydgoszcz, pl. Kościeleckich 6.

On November 18, our guest will be Dr. Marek Foksiński, Ph.D., a professor at Nicolaus Copernicus University (UMK) from the Department of Clinical Biochemistry, who will discuss the topic: “The Significance of Epigenetic Processes in Human Diseases: New Possibilities or a Dead End?”
