Let’s Stand Against the Demolition of Modernist Architecture! – a lecture by Paweł Górny

Modernist architecture, especially from the interwar period, remains underappreciated in Bydgoszcz. It lacks ornamentation or intricate details; instead, form and geometry take center stage. Unfortunately, not everyone sees the art in it, so modernism is easily written off as a loss in new development projects. At the event, we’ll take a photographic walk through Bydgoszcz in search of lost and endangered modernist buildings.

Paweł Górny – a graduate of the postgraduate program in City Management and Urban Policy at the Warsaw School of Economics and the National School of Public Administration. He has experience in public consultation processes and is a member of the Council for Public Participation under the Mayor of Bydgoszcz and the Council for Public Benefit Activities of the City of Bydgoszcz. He is the founder and chair of the Bydgoski Ruch Miejski association (originally known as the Social Advocate for Pedestrians in Bydgoszcz), which focuses on road safety and the quality of urban public spaces.
