November 11 is a day when we especially want to be together. The Energy Chamber Orchestra’s “Polish Concert” will be a musical celebration of Independence—without any grandstanding, but with a huge dose of energy, emotion, and the joy of experiencing music together.

The young artists of the Energy Chamber Orchestra, led by world-renowned violinist Paweł Zalejski, draw on the most important works of Polish music, presenting them with verve, freshness, and the youthful energy characteristic of the ensemble.

The concert will feature music from several eras—from the Renaissance and Baroque, through Romanticism and Young Poland, all the way to the 20th century.

The evening will begin with works by Wacław of Szamotuły, one of the most outstanding composers of the Polish Renaissance. His famous “Już się zmierzcha” will be performed in ECO arrangements, giving this historic music a new, fresh sound.

The Romantic section will feature Henryk Wieniawski’s emotionally charged and virtuosic compositions—“Legenda,” “Kujawiak,” and “Obertas”—as well as music by Fryderyk Chopin, which cannot be overlooked in any discussion of Polish identity and culture.

After the intermission, we will hear Mieczysław Karłowicz’s “Serenade”—an exceptionally colorful and atmospheric composition representing the Young Poland era.

The finale will belong to Grażyna Bacewicz, one of the most important figures in 20th-century Polish music. Her “Concerto for Orchestra” and the exuberant “Oberek” will allow the orchestra to fully showcase its temperament and youthful energy.

November 11. Bydgoszcz. Polish music. Youthful energy. A celebration together.
