“Through the Wall” is a true story.

In 1947, 27-year-old Wiesława Pajdak was arrested and sent to a communist prison on Rakowiecka Street. A few days later, 27-year-old Jerzy Śmiechowski was also sent to the same prison. One night, they began communicating through the wall using Morse code. Though it’s hard to believe, the young couple fell in love. Six years after they first met, they saw each other “in person” for the first time at their wedding in prison.

After their release, they lived happily together for 55 years. This is the story of an extraordinary encounter and a love that saved them both.
