Organizer: Koloroffon Association

Project partners: Bydgoszcz Municipal Cultural Center, Orzeł Cinema, Rother’s Mills

Co-financing: City of Bydgoszcz, Polish Film Institute (PISF)

Information from the organizer:

“Kumotry” is a story about the friendship between two elderly women living in a dying Polish village in the Romanian Carpathians. Hanka and Bronka have already buried their husbands, and their children have left for abroad in search of different, better prospects. These self-reliant and independent protagonists impress with their cheerfulness, even as their reality inexorably fades into the past. What remains are memories of times that will never return—and their shared struggle to face the challenges of everyday life. After the screening, we’ll discuss memory, friendship, and the passage of time with the film’s director, Emilia Śniegoska.

Following the screening, Justyna Cholewińska and Krzysztof Nowicki will lead the discussion.

THE VERY CONTROVERSIAL FILM CLUB – DISCUSSIONS ABOUT FILMS UNTIL YOU’RE OUT OF BREATH

The Very Controversial Film Club marks a return to the idea of a film gathering where the discussion among participants after the screening is just as important as the screening itself. We’d like to invite all local film enthusiasts to join the conversation. We believe that the selected lineup will serve only as a starting point for a broader discussion, in which the audience’s voice is of the utmost importance.
