Newly planted trees, a nicer playground, or perhaps a renovation of a neighborhood street? Residents will decide which ideas will be implemented as part of the Bydgoszcz Participatory Budget. In November, you’ll also be able to cast your vote while shopping at the Rondo Shopping Center. Every Saturday of the month, from November 7 through 28, a special booth run by the City of Bydgoszcz will be open at the mall, where you can learn about the projects and cast your vote.

This is one of those opportunities when residents have a direct say in what will change in their city. As part of the Bydgoszcz Participatory Budget, they can select the projects they believe are most deserving of implementation. Among the submitted ideas are both investments aimed at improving neighborhood infrastructure and initiatives related to green spaces, recreation, and the life of local communities.

To make it easier to participate in the voting, the Rondo Shopping Center will once again provide space for a special City Hall booth. It will be open every Saturday from November 7 through 28, from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. There, you’ll be able to learn about the rules of the Bydgoszcz Participatory Budget, get the information you need, and receive assistance with voting.

New plantings, a playground, or a better road?
Among the proposals submitted for this year’s edition, there is no shortage of projects concerning the Wilczak-Jary neighborhood, where CH Rondo is located. One of them involves planting five trees in the park along the canal, in place of withered trees. Another concerns Księżycowy Park, where plans call for equipping the playground with new, safe equipment and installing comfortable benches. Residents can also support projects related to paving Kazimierza Przerwy-Tetmajera and Gwiaździsta Streets.

These are just some of the proposals to choose from. Importantly, the voting station at the Rondo Shopping Center is open to residents of all of Bydgoszcz, not just those from the surrounding neighborhoods. So anyone can vote on projects concerning their part of the city, as well as on initiatives with a broader scope.

Four votes, four possibilities

Any resident of Bydgoszcz can participate in the voting, regardless of age or place of residence. Each person has a maximum of four votes—one each for a neighborhood project, a citywide project, a community project, and a neighborhood micro-project. Minors require the consent of a legal guardian.

You can cast your vote independently on the Bydgoszcz Participatory Budget website or seek assistance from City Hall representatives at the Rondo Shopping Center. This allows even those who do not use the internet on a daily basis to easily participate in selecting projects.

The Bydgoszcz Participatory Budget booth will be open at the Rondo Shopping Center on four Saturdays: November 7, 14, 21, and 28, from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The booth will be located on Level 1, in the passageway between the Rossmann drugstore and the 4F store.

So, while you’re out shopping on Saturday, take a few minutes to cast your vote. It’s a simple way to influence what Bydgoszcz will look like in the coming years—from the nearest park or playground to projects benefiting residents throughout the city.
