The mural aims to spark the interest of Bydgoszcz residents in the city’s history and the legends associated with it.

The mural’s theme is five urban legends: Pan Twardowski, Węgliszek, the Nymphs of the Brda River, the Fiddler, and The City Floating on a Raft. It depicts three figures floating on a raft (transporting goods by water—a reference to the city’s connection to water).

The motif corresponds to the cover of the album “Słowo dla miasta” (“A Word for the City”) (local artists undertook an attempt to interpret the aforementioned legends).

The mural is part of a project organized to mark the city’s 670th anniversary (2016)—“Bydgoszcz Wciąga Legendarnie” (“Bydgoszcz Draws You In Legendarily”), showcasing the city’s better- and lesser-known neighborhoods (organized by the On/Off Agency; the entire project was executed by Nice Work).
