The murals were created as part of the World Urban Art contemporary art festival.

Teofil Ociepka was born in 1891 in Silesia. He was a miner by trade, but we remember him as one of the most famous Polish painters representing primitivism. An amateur, a self-taught artist, a primitivist, and at the same time an exceptionally talented and inspired theosophist. In 1959, the artist moved to Bydgoszcz, where he created magical paintings until his death in 1978. He was buried at the municipal cemetery on Lotników Street in Błonie. The mural is located on one of the walls of the buildings on Kościeleckich Square and was created in 2022.

Wanda Szkulmowska was the founder of a scholarship program for folk artists. She was the author of over 150 publications, including 11 books devoted to the folk art of the regions within our province. She also found fulfillment as a lecturer and university professor. For many years, she served on the board of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Cultural Society in Bydgoszcz and on the Scientific Council of the Association of Folk Artists in Lublin. For her professional and social activities, she was honored with, among others: the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta, the Oskar Kolberg Medal, the Silver and Gold “Gloria Artis Medal for Merit to Culture,” and the Unitas Durat Palatinatus Cuiaviano-Pomeraniensis Medal from the Marshal of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship. The mural was created in 2023.

Kazimierz Hoffman (1928–2009), the namesake of the K-PCK hall, known as the Hoffman Salon. A poet who published his work in the 1950s in the Warsaw-based magazine “Nowy Tor.” Later, he led the Bydgoszcz-Toruń Association of Polish Writers. He lived in Bydgoszcz. He is buried at the cemetery on Wyszyńskiego Street.

The murals can be found on the grounds of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Cultural Center on Kościeleckich Square.
