The Festival of Premieres
The Festival of Premieres (Festiwal Prapremier) is a major nationwide theatre festival organized since 2002 by the Polish Theatre in Bydgoszcz. Held every autumn, the festival’s program is dedicated exclusively to the very first stagings of theatrical plays.

The idea for the event came from Adam Orzechowski, the former director of the Polish Theatre, who helped establish it before passing the baton to his successor, Paweł Łysak, in 2006.
Today, the Polish Theatre in Bydgoszcz showcases acclaimed and thought-provoking performances that significantly shape the theatre landscape, both in Poland and internationally. Over the years, the festival has hosted some of the most outstanding Polish directors and actors, whose stage interpretations truly push the boundaries of reality. The main program is always accompanied by a variety of engaging side events, including special art projects, audio plays, panel discussions, and exciting national and international co-productions.
In 2026, the festival will take place from October 16th to 30th.
