“The Katyn Massacre—Memory, Identity, and Responsibility: Between Historical Research and the Education of the Younger Generation”

October 22–23, 2026 | Auditorium of the Kazimierz Wielki University Library in Bydgoszcz

We invite you to a two-day conference dedicated to the Katyn Massacre, the memory of its victims, and the responsibility to pass on historical truth to future generations.

The event will be attended by historians, archaeologists, researchers, representatives of the Katyn Families, teachers, students, and young people.

The program will include presentations by experts, proposals for educational projects, and presentations by students who have commemorated the victims of the Katyn Massacre with “Oaks of Remembrance” at their schools.

The first day will have a popular science focus, while the second day will feature workshops for teachers and students on working with sources, documents, and memorabilia, as well as the use of digital tools in history education.

The conference is being organized as part of a public initiative funded by the Office for War Veterans and Victims of Repression.

The project has also been supported by Michał Sztybel, Governor of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, and Piotr Całbecki, Marshal of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, who have assumed patronage of the event.
