(MEETING POINT – St. Nicholas Parish in Bydgoszcz)

The walk will be led by Damian Rączka, a regional historian, tour guide, activist with the Forum for Dialogue, finalist for the “Polin” Award, and screenwriter of a documentary film about the Fordon prison.

A themed walk accompanied by the poetry of Irena Tomalak, a political prisoner whose longing for freedom was soothed by the Vistula River flowing past the former customs house. What stories lie hidden along the banks of the Vistula? Our guide, Damian Amon Rączka, will tell us all about it. The route will lead from the Market Square, along Sikorskiego Street and Burmistrza Wawrzyniaka Boulevards, to the Vistula River. We’ll visit important—and sometimes forgotten—places, including a synagogue where extraordinary stories lie hidden beneath its monumental roof.

PROJECT INFORMATION
An interdisciplinary project carried out by the Jeremiasz Przybora High School No. 15 with Sports Excellence Programs at Hangar Kultury (the auditorium and theater hall) in partnership with the Wanda Rucińska Chamber Theater in Bydgoszcz, in collaboration with the Synagogue in Fordon Foundation — the Community Center, the “Marzenia” 50+ Club Association, and the Przylesie Library—Branch No. 15 for adults, with a section for children and youth—aims to organize a series of literary and musical events.

The project will include: a field research walk, theater workshops, choral workshops, a closing performance, and a cruise on the Vistula River.

This intergenerational project is open to interested students from the humanities and theater classes at the Jeremiasz Przybora High School No. 15 with Sports Championship Divisions, as well as seniors from the “Marzenia” 50+ Club Association.
