On Wednesday (November 11), we invite you to the Provincial Celebrations of National Independence Day. We will honor the memory of those who fought for our homeland’s freedom for 123 years.

In Bydgoszcz, the ceremonies will begin at 9 a.m. Flowers will be laid at the monument and commemorative plaques honoring Leon Barciszewski, Alojzy Stryszka, Dr. Jan Biziel, Gen. Józef Dowbor-Muśnicki, Ignacy Rochon, and Jan Teska. At 11:00 a.m., a Holy Mass for the Homeland will begin at Bydgoszcz Cathedral. After the Mass concludes (at 12:15 p.m.), a patriotic ceremony with military honors will begin in the Old Market Square. At 1:30 p.m., also in the Old Market Square, you’ll be able to watch a parade by the “Cavalry for Independence” mounted cavalry unit. At 2:00 p.m., the civic celebrations of Independence Day will begin. We will sing patriotic songs together, accompanied by the Youth Brass Band of the Electronics School Complex in Bydgoszcz. There will also be art activities for the youngest children and photos taken by a professional photographer.

As is tradition, we’ll also be celebrating Independence Day through sports. At 8:00 a.m., the 20th Bydgoszcz Independence Day Bike Rally will begin. At 10:00 a.m., runners participating in the Bydgoszcz Independence Run will set off on a 5-km course (start and finish at Zawisza Stadium), and at the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Provincial Office, the 31st Independence Day Chess Tournament will begin.
